Bowen “Skip” and Carol Watts
Watts Copy Systems started in Springfield, Illinois and has been a local, family-owned corporation in business since 1982. Our corporate headquarters in Springfield houses our management, administration, receiving, warehouse, refurbishing departments, as well as our local help desk call center. In addition to our corporate facility, Watts has eight regional sales and service centers located geographically across central Illinois.
In 1982 Watts Copy Systems was literally started in the basement of Skip and Carol Watts’ home. The first new copier they sold was a treated-paper copier manufactured in Chicago by Otto Clark. Watts Copy Systems would sell one and go to Chicago and buy two more. Having worked for other dealerships, Carol and Skip knew the quality that Sharp copiers would provide, and within a year became an authorized Sharp Dealer. Shortly after, Watts purchased Decker Business Systems becoming the only Sharp Dealership in Springfield. Within the next five years Watts opened 4 regional sales and service centers, eventually growing to a total of 9 facilities located in Springfield, Decatur, Champaign, Mattoon, Belleville, Quincy, Macomb, Peoria and Bloomington.
Over the years, Watts has experienced significant growth and expanded our customer base, receiving numerous awards from Sharp, including Hyakuman Kai Elite awards, indicating our status as a premier, top producing dealer for Sharp. In 2011, Watts expanded our product offerings to include the complete line of Kyocera copiers, multi-function printers and a wide assortment of desktop printers. Watts relationship with Kyocera has quickly flourished, including achieving Kyocera’s Elite Dealer status and becoming a top-tier service provider for Kyocera. In 2015, Watts was one of the fastest growing Kyocera dealers in the nation.
While Watts has experienced significant growth and success since our start in 1982, we remain a locally-owned, customer-focused company that continues to be guided by our founder Skip Watts’ motto, “where service is more than a promise”. Carol Watts continues to lead the company with the same guiding principles that she and Skip established from the beginning—developing lasting partnership with our clients by always keeping each and every customer’s satisfaction as our number one priority.
